The Resume
What sort of a job can I get with little to no experience? What if the job I want bears no resemblance to the jobs I've had in the past? When you first begin to prepare a resume, questions like this one might be uppermost in your mind.
Is there a positive answer? Yes, there can be, if you think of the resume as a document meant to showcase your abilities rather than merely list the jobs you've held.
So when you're listing those jobs--because of course you have to do this!--remember that it's better to explain what you learned from the position rather than merely list what you did. In other words, turn your duties into knowledge gained.
How do you accomplish this, when your main responsibilities have been stacking ice cream cartons in a freezer or counting cans of peas?
This site is designed to assist you in the preparation of a resume that will persuade your reader you can do the job for him or her. It includes basic information about creating a resume, from choosing a pattern to turning action-oriented statements into knowledge-oriented ones to selecting a visual design.
