Professional Writing
The 50-hour Professional Writing (PW) Option
of the major is designed for students who want to learn the writing and editing
skills required in today's competitive workplace, develop their design and
web writing abilities, learn to create proposals and reports, and build a portfolio
of real-world writing samples.
Students in the PW Program combine coursework on the methods, forms, and issues of workplace writing with practical experience, usually in the form of client or service-learning projects with non-profit organizations. As a result, you will begin your career with the writing skills needed to succeed in today's competitive market, an understanding of professional expectations, experience with current software packages, and a portfolio of real-world writing samples.
The PW Program also offers an 18-hour minor.
