Graduate Courses in English
Generally, 5000-level courses are open to all graduate students. 6000-level courses are usually restricted to students admitted to specific degree programs. For example, ENGL 6704, 6714, 6724, and 6764 are creative writing workshops restricted to students in the MFA program.
Students in all three degree programs in English may include some courses from other programs in English in their plan of study. Please check the degree requirements for your program to see what options are available.
The degree requirements for the MA and PhD also permit courses in other departments. MA students may take 4000-level courses approved for graduate credit.
All degree programs accommodate graduate certificates from other departments, such as the Future Professoriate (Graduate School), Women's Studies, and Nonprofit and Nongovernmental Organization Management. Click here for details on certificates offered.
