Faculty in English
More than 80 faculty members teach courses in the English department.
Faculty are distinguished by excellent teaching and have won numerous college, university, statewide, and national awards for teaching.
Faculty also are productive researchers and creative writers. They are engaged in literary research, with recent books on Emily Dickinson, children's literature, and Stephen Crane. Faculty also explore the uses of texts in social and cultural issues, including gender equity and Title IX, the safety of Hispanic construction workers in relation to training materials, AIDS and breastfeeding, and anti-Arab racism. Creative writers publish poetry, fiction, drama, and creative nonfiction.
