Student Profiles: Bethany Tucker
I enjoy a smattering of authors from all different periods, but my interest definitely lies most firmly in fairy tales, or, to put it another way, mythology and folklore. I have not yet found the angle from which to study these tales, because what I enjoy most about them is simply the stories. I am currently very interested in Celtic folklore and mythology, though I have not seen many collections of tales from this culture, and I would very much like to focus my research on digging more up. (By ‘tales’, I mean stories concerning everything from their various deities to tales of the fairy folk.) Having never taught, I’m not sure what my teaching philosophy is, and I suppose it will have to vary depending on what I begin teaching, though I do believe that whatever a teacher teaches, they should find a way to make it exciting, relevant, and very fun for the students.
