Student Profiles: Jeff Spicer
I did my undergraduate work at the College of William & Mary. I
majored in
English literature, with honors work in Medieval and Renaissance studies, and
minored in philosophy. Though I haven’t yet selected a primary
area of research, I am interested in symbols and archetypes which recur cross-culturally
and cross-temporally and the implications of those phenomena in relation to
how we experience/participate in a story. In particular, I’m interested
in questions of how modern writers/storytellers use those symbols, which are
so universally prominent and yet so individually connotative, to illicit a
more personal response from an increasingly disparate readership.
