Student Profiles: Lauren Jensen
A
visiting poet once approached me after a workshop without a greeting or praise,
but just put a hand on my shoulder and said, “You can’t
help it, can you,” and I couldn’t. Not then or now. I
write to acknowledge the first crocus in spring, snow days growing up, and
the skillful art of opening a beer with a rock. I also write to avoid
being bitter. Over the past three years, I’ve concentrated on living
out my poems in day to day life, and I look forward to the following three
to revise and write them down. I’m also interested in reading
new poetic players on the scene as well as revisiting the old.
