Student Profiles: Kelly Goad

photoMy interests as a student and as an individual are unapologetically intertwined.  The person I have become at the ripe old age of 22 has been molded by the stories I have read, the authors I have studied, and the experiences of the characters I continue to learn from.  I find myself preoccupied with the Romantic period with a special interest in the writings of William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Lord Byron, and Mary Shelley.  I plan on further pursuing my Senior Thesis, a study of the paratexts of Wordsworth and Coleridge’s Lyrical Ballads and their intentions and limitations as prose works written as a complement to the collection of poetry.  I am endlessly fascinated by Walt Whitman and the ways in which his writing reveals the temper of an American people searching for a unified national identity.  I plan on reading, writing, learning, teaching, thinking, and feeling every single day for the rest of my life.
