Department of English

The Distinguished Alumni Board

DAB Members The Distinguished Alumni Board was formed in 2003 to support the department’s initiatives, including representing and enhancing the visibility of the department internally and externally. Other activities include fundraising, developing connections between the department and alumni, and mentoring students.

Among its most visible projects is the annual Career and Leadership Weekend, when board members work one-on-one with students reviewing their resumes and conducting mock interviews. They also lead workshops and serve on panels related to success in careers and professional schools. They have donated funds to provide the Distinguished Alumni Board Scholarship.

The twenty members are all alumni of the Virginia Tech English Department who have distinguished themselves in a variety of careers, including law, teaching, financial services, management of nonprofits, development, creative writing, technical writing and training, and media services.
